Man Charged with Drug Possession in Idaho Falls

A man was charged with drug possession in Idaho Falls and a number of other offenses, including driving under the influence,  following his arrest on Sunday, April 11. The arrest was made by Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies. Authorities identified the suspect as Cody W. Seymore, 32, of Rexburg.

According to the details shared by the deputies, Seymore was traveling in the Ucon area where eyewitnesses called him in for reckless driving. Responding to these reports, deputies started tracking the vehicle. They were able to locate the vehicle in the area close to Woodruff Avenue and North Yellowstone Highway.

The deputies then initiated a traffic stop. At the stop, deputies observed Seymore’s body language which indicated that he was under the influence. He was asked to step out of the vehicle and undergo various field sobriety tests.

When asked by a deputy, Seymore confirmed that he had smoked marijuana some hours ago. He further stated that he had smoked methamphetamine a day ago. Based on these confirmations, the deputy asked Seymore if he was in possession of meth at the time. Seymore answered affirmatively to this as well, admitting that he had one ounce of meth in the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle led the deputies to recover around 29 grams of meth as well as drug paraphernalia. Cash amounting to $1700 was also recovered from the vehicle. Based on the evidence and his own admission, Seymore was taken into custody by the deputies.

He was then transported to the Bonneville County Jail and charged with several offenses. These include driving under the influence second offense, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and felony possession of meth.

Drug possession in Idaho Falls is a serious criminal offense in Idaho and the penalties can include a jail time of several years to life. This is why it is important to seek the legal help of a Boise DUI defense lawyer if you face these charges.
