Man Arrested For Injuring Bicyclist in DUI Crash

A man was apprehended and charged by the Boise Police Department for causing a DUI crash which resulted in serious injuries to a bicyclist. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 15. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail the next day on Sunday, August 16. BPD identified the suspect as Jeremiah Lally, 31, of Boise.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the hit-and-run DUI crash occurred at the intersection of the W. Rose Hill and S. Ruby Street in Boise. Lally was riding a pickup truck at the time of the collision. As he drove through the intersection, he allegedly collided with a bicyclist. Following the collision, he fled the scene of the accident.

Once the first responders arrived on the scene of the crash, they found the bicyclist with critical injuries. As of Monday, August 17, BPD had not revealed the identity of the bicyclist. BPD is also yet to update about the extent of the injuries and updates on the condition of the bicyclist.

Lally and his pickup truck were spotted by the investigators close to the scene of the crash. According to the law enforcement officers, his vehicle bore evidence that it had been involved in the hit-and-run. It also matched the description of the witness statements.

Based on the evidence, BPD arrested Lally and booked him into the county jail. Latest updates from BPD show that Lally was still in the jail as of Monday morning. He has been charged with aggravated DUI for causing a serious-injury crash while driving under the influence. Aggravated DUI is a felony charge in the state of Idaho and carries stiff penalties. The penalties for the offense include a prison sentence of up to 15 years in prison as well as a fine of up to five thousand dollars.
